ValerieW-18, 18 March 2011

Alright, so the title sounds like a bit of an oxymoron. But it’ll make sense, I swear.
I just got back from a month-long Christmas break, which I spent at home in Hong Kong. To say I’ve been feeling homesick for the past three days would be an understatement.

JennC-22 visits the POOR CLARE NUNS OF PERPETUAL ADORATION... in SPAIN
by Jenn-22, 12 October 2010
"This must be the convent," I thought to myself as I dismounted my bike. I had just cycled 15 km under the hot Spanish sun and was sweaty and tired. These imposing stone walls, which contrasted starkly with the cute brightly-colored buildings in the town, suggested to me that this must be the home of the 140 Poor Clare Nuns, among which was a dear friend of mine.
We may not always love them, we may tease them behind their backs and we may also forget that they too have feelings, but we can’t underestimate the influence teachers have on us. And if only once in a lifetime, one teacher lights a spark in our imagination and inspires us, that would have made a major, lasting impact on our lives.

CAMBOWALK 2009: 14th November, "Walk for Education to combat poverty"
By Nomadic Chris, 4 November 2009
Do you ever take your shoes or slippers for granted?
Can you imagine walking several miles everyday to collect food and supplies without proper protection for your feet?
The Hong Kong based, student-run NGO, "Humanity in Focus" are organizing their first fundraiser, CamboWalk 2009, to let Hong Kong people experience some of the difficulties people in developing nations face without proper footwear.

ValerieW-16 on "The Oxymoron Called the SAT Literature Subject Test"
by ValerieW-16, 30 July 2009
I’ve never been a fan of standardized testing, but my recent ordeal regarding taking the SAT Literature Subject Test last weekend confirmed all my fears.
Pardon me for sounding a little cocky, but English has always been one of my strengths and passions both inside and outside of school. Which is probably why doing so poorly on the test was such an unpleasant surprise.
